Lawful, discreet and evidence-based surveillance across Queensland.
Regional Queensland Investigations provides professional surveillance investigations for private clients, law firms, insurers, employers, businesses, local government and organisations requiring independent evidence.
Our surveillance work is planned, proportionate and conducted for a clearly defined lawful purpose. We do not conduct speculative, intrusive or improper surveillance.

Professional surveillance investigations Queensland clients can rely on
Surveillance is a serious investigative tool. When conducted properly, it can provide independent observations, photographic evidence, video evidence, movement records and factual reporting that assists clients to make informed decisions.
RQI conducts surveillance investigations across regional, rural and remote Queensland, including matters where discretion, local knowledge, lawful planning and careful evidence handling are essential.
Surveillance may assist where allegations, claims or conduct cannot be properly resolved through interviews, documents or desktop enquiries alone.
Surveillance must be done properly
RQI assesses each matter before deployment to ensure the assignment is appropriate, lawful and capable of producing useful evidence.
- Defined lawful purpose before surveillance begins.
- Proportionate and risk-assessed deployment.
- Discreet field operations.
- Contemporaneous observations and reporting.
- Evidence captured and handled with care.
- Reports suitable for clients, lawyers and decision-makers.
When surveillance investigations may be appropriate
Surveillance may be appropriate when there is a legitimate need to independently verify conduct, activity, movements, attendance, associations or events relevant to an investigation.
Workplace matters
Surveillance may assist in misconduct, attendance, secondary employment, misuse of company resources or serious integrity concerns.
Insurance matters
RQI assists insurers, claims managers and lawyers where independent observations are required in claim-related investigations.
Corporate concerns
Surveillance may support investigations into fraud, undisclosed activity, conflict of interest or commercial misconduct.
Private client matters
RQI conducts private surveillance where there is a proper purpose, including relationship, welfare, safety or disputed conduct concerns.
Legal matters
Lawyers may engage RQI where independent observations are needed to support advice, litigation strategy or evidence gathering.
Regional assignments
RQI is built for regional Queensland and understands the logistical realities of surveillance outside South East Queensland.
Surveillance is not just watching someone
Effective surveillance requires planning, patience, discretion, risk assessment, lawful purpose, accurate note-taking, evidence continuity and clear reporting.
Poorly planned surveillance can waste money, compromise confidentiality, alert the subject, create safety risks, or produce evidence that is of little practical value. RQI approaches surveillance as a formal investigative discipline, not as opportunistic observation.
Our surveillance methodology
Each surveillance assignment is assessed and planned before field deployment. The objective is to collect reliable observations while maintaining discretion, safety and evidentiary value.
1. Initial assessment
We assess the client’s objective, lawful purpose, background information, location, risks and whether surveillance is suitable.
2. Planning
We consider subject movements, likely locations, terrain, traffic, weather, operational windows and confidentiality risks.
3. Deployment
Surveillance is conducted discreetly by trained operatives using methods appropriate to the environment and assignment.
4. Evidence capture
Relevant observations, photographs and video are recorded carefully, with attention to time, date, location and continuity.
5. Field notes
Observations are recorded contemporaneously so the final report is accurate, structured and fact-based.
6. Reporting
Clients receive a clear surveillance report setting out observations, evidence, movements and relevant outcomes.

Lawful surveillance in Queensland
Surveillance must be approached carefully. RQI does not accept assignments that are unlawful, speculative, oppressive, harassing or designed to improperly intrude into a person’s private life.
Before accepting a surveillance matter, we consider:
- The lawful purpose of the surveillance.
- Whether surveillance is necessary and proportionate.
- The client’s relationship to the matter.
- The location and privacy considerations.
- Operational safety and risk.
- Whether the expected evidence will be useful and reliable.
- How evidence will be reported and preserved.
Regional Queensland surveillance capability
Surveillance in regional Queensland is different. Distances are greater, communities are smaller, and discretion can be more difficult than in metropolitan environments.
RQI understands the practical realities of regional surveillance, including long travel distances, limited vantage points, mining rosters, rural roads, small-town visibility, weather, local events and confidentiality risks.

Surveillance reporting and evidence
The value of surveillance is not just in what is observed. The value is in how the evidence is recorded, explained and presented.
RQI surveillance reports are structured, factual and designed to assist decision-making. Reports may include time-and-date recorded observations, location details, relevant movements, photographs, video references, investigator notes and a clear summary of outcomes.
Why choose RQI for surveillance?
RQI is not a call-centre style operator or a city-based firm simply advertising “Queensland-wide” services. We are based in regional Queensland and built for investigations outside South East Queensland.
We combine lawful investigative planning, surveillance discipline, practical field experience, regional knowledge and evidence-based reporting.
Surveillance investigation FAQs
Can RQI conduct surveillance anywhere in Queensland?
RQI conducts surveillance across regional, rural and remote Queensland. Each assignment is assessed for feasibility, lawful purpose, location, risk and evidentiary value before deployment.
Do you conduct private relationship surveillance?
Yes, where there is a proper and lawful purpose. RQI assesses private client matters carefully and does not conduct surveillance that is speculative, harassing, intrusive or unlawful.
Can surveillance evidence be used by lawyers or insurers?
Surveillance evidence may assist lawyers, insurers, employers and decision-makers when it is obtained lawfully and reported properly. RQI focuses on clear observations, careful records and evidence-based reporting.
How much notice is needed for surveillance?
The more notice provided, the better the planning. However, RQI can assess urgent matters where surveillance may be required quickly.
Will the subject know they are under surveillance?
Surveillance is conducted discreetly. However, no ethical investigator can guarantee that a subject will never become aware of surveillance. Good planning reduces risk and protects the integrity of the assignment.
