Book a Consultation

Book an investigator consultation with RQI.

If you are unsure where to start, a consultation with Regional Queensland Investigations can help clarify the issue, identify the type of investigation required and outline practical next steps.

RQI assists private clients, law firms, insurers, employers, businesses, local government and organisations across regional, rural and remote Queensland.

Consultation focus

A consultation is suitable where you need guidance before engaging formal investigation services.

  • Discuss the issue confidentially.
  • Clarify whether RQI can assist.
  • Identify possible investigation options.
  • Consider urgency, risk and evidence needs.
  • Understand likely next steps.

When should you book a consultation?

A consultation is useful when you have a concern but are not yet sure what investigation pathway is appropriate. Many clients contact RQI before they have all the answers, because they need help working out what can be done lawfully and practically.

RQI can help assess whether the matter may require surveillance, factual enquiries, a workplace investigation, insurance claim investigation, corporate investigation, background research, evidence review or another form of professional investigative support.

The consultation is not a guarantee that RQI can accept the matter. Each matter must be assessed for conflict, lawful purpose, scope, proportionality, risk and suitability.

Before the consultation

To make the consultation useful, have a short factual summary ready.

  • Your location and the location of the matter.
  • The type of issue or concern.
  • Any urgent deadlines or court dates.
  • Names of key parties if relevant.
  • What outcome or evidence you are seeking.
  • Whether lawyers, insurers or employers are involved.

Select a consultation time

Use the booking tool below to choose an available appointment time. Once booked, please ensure your contact details are accurate so RQI can confirm the consultation.

Please do not upload or send unnecessary sensitive material before RQI confirms what information is required. If the matter is urgent, you may also call 1300 870 923.

What happens after you book?

The consultation is designed to help RQI understand the issue and identify whether there is a lawful and practical investigation pathway.

1. Booking confirmation

After booking, you should receive confirmation of the consultation time and details through the booking system.

2. Initial discussion

RQI will discuss the issue, your objective, the relevant location, urgency and the type of assistance you may need.

3. Suitability assessment

RQI will consider whether the matter is appropriate, lawful, proportionate and within the firm’s capability.

4. Investigation options

Where suitable, RQI can explain potential next steps, likely evidence sources and the type of investigation that may assist.

5. Scope and fees

If the matter proceeds, RQI can provide a proposed scope, fee estimate, retainer requirements and reporting approach.

6. Formal engagement

Investigation work only begins once the scope, authority, fees and engagement arrangements are confirmed.

Consultations are confidential, but not every matter can be accepted

RQI treats consultation enquiries confidentially. However, RQI will not accept matters that are unlawful, unethical, oppressive, harassing, speculative or outside the firm’s proper investigative scope.

If the matter is more appropriately handled by police, a solicitor, a regulator, an employer, a government agency or another professional service, RQI may tell you that during the consultation.

Investigation services RQI may discuss with you

Depending on the nature of the issue, RQI may discuss one or more investigation options.
