🕯️ National Police Remembrance Day — Honouring Those Who Gave All
Today, on 29 September, we pause for National Police Remembrance Day.
For me, this day carries a deep personal weight. Before founding Regional Queensland Investigations Pty Ltd, I proudly served as a sworn officer in both the Victoria Police (Reg. No. 27654) and the Australian Federal Police (Reg. No. 11789). I know firsthand the dedication, courage, and risks that come with wearing the uniform.
This year’s remembrance is especially solemn. On 26 August 2025, we tragically lost Victorian members:
Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson
Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart
Their deaths remind us all of the dangers faced daily by those who stand between our communities and harm. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Each wreath laid, each moment’s silence, is a testament not only to lives lost, but to the people — fathers, sons, daughters, colleagues — behind the badge.
2. Safety & Accountability
We must continue to demand the highest standards of training, support, and leadership so that every officer is given the best chance to return safely home.
3. Families & Colleagues
The ripple of loss touches partners, children, and colleagues. On this day, we recommit to supporting those left behind.
4. Legacy
The names of Neal Thompson and Vadim de Waart-Hottart must remain part of our institutional and cultural memory, guiding the values and vigilance of those who follow.
